U10 Football v Hallfield

A Team

The return fixture against Hallfield saw a comprehensive victory for West House School. Oliver W, Musa I, Ameer N and Zak S all featured on the scoresheet as West House took their chances in front of goal. Our goalkeeper, William D, saved a lot of big chances for Hallfield and our defence was rock solid. Post match, Musa I commented, “a great win and we defended really well”. Before our next match, I think we can work on our slick, passing movements to create even more chances in front of goal.

B Team

The B Team played exceptionally well against Hallfield with the goals shared between all the players. The highlight of the game was a fantastic attacking movement where Harvun S on the left hand side switched the play to Ibraheem F on the right before Ibraheem F crossed it into Joe G who, with a first time finish, slotted the ball home to guide West House into double figures in terms of goals. I would say Harvun S was Player of the Match because he was unselfish and always looked to play good balls for other players to score. Post match, Harvun said, “There was great passing from our forward players and we deserved the goals we scored. We were always looking for the through balls which put constant pressure on the Hallfield defence.” Game management is something we can work on so we don’t lose focus.

U9 Football v Highclare

A Team

West House had a really close game against Highclare and the final score was 1-1. In the first half, we were strong in defence with no goals scored at half-time. After going behind, Alfie D was one on one with the goalkeeper and scored a brilliant goal to level the game. The final minutes were close and tense and West House worked hard to earn the draw. Post match, Player of the Match Alfie D said, “Today was good because we defended reality well.” For our next match, we can improve on keeping possesion of the ball and not kicking it straight out.

B Team

Paras S, Ibrahim Z, Rui Z and William T all added to the scoring tally to secure a 5-1 victory away at Highclare. The best goal saw Paras S dribble down the middle, take a shot which was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper and William T was in the right place at the right time to score the rebound. Post match, William commented, “I was happy I scored but the team was really confident today and we played really well”. Although we scored 5 goals, I think the team can work more on their shooting technique and, not only aiming for the target, but also aiming for the corners more.

U11 Football v Eversfield

A Team

The match started on a cold, bitter afternoon, down at Richmond Hill Road. Eversfield taking charge early on, but West House got their heads back into the game looked for openings in the solid, Eversfield defence. Like always, Sebastian E pressed like a nuisance, trying to get the ball whenever possible, and their defence couldn’t take it anymore and let slip, and the ball bobbled around. Tamu rocketed a shot into the bottom corner 1-0.

Mika Rao in goal made some crucial saves, blocking some of the opposition’s attacks; without him, we wouldn’t have had a chance of staying ahead. Later on, West House were on the counter with a three-on-one and Tamu to finish off the half, slotted the ball into the back of the net. The score was 2-0 at the break.

After a drink of water, the second half saw both teams get off to a slow start, with the next goal being crucial. After ten minutes, Sebastian E caught Eversfield on the counter attack following a corner but his first shot was saved. To West House’s delight, he took the rebound and volleyed the ball into the near post. 3-0

As West House pressed from kick off, they were able to regain possession and move forward with the ball, and as Harry R gathered the ball on the left-hand side of the pitch, he took his time and had a clean shot at goal – 4-0.

Eversfield weren’t having it any longer; they applied a lot more pressure trying to score a goal, and in the end, they found a gap in our defence and took the scrappy goal for 4-1. Aaron S was showing real determination and trying his hardest to force the defenders to make a mistake. Eventually, they did, but Aaron had two players in front of him, squeezed through the gap and took a shot at the far post.

Overall, the team were fantastic and deserved a 5-1 victory.

B Team

Back from injury, Indy S, said, “The team passed really from the back in defence to the attacking players” as the B Team secured a 6-1 win against Eversfield. Ibrahim R, Zohaib A and Ben R each scored a brace while Ibrahim R, Leonardo V-K, Indy S and Zohaib chipped in with vital assists. Whilst it was a good performance, West House need to look up and pass more particularly when they are through on goal and they are one pass away from creating a good chance on goal.
