Deputy Nursery Manager

The EYFS Department at West House School is seeking a Deputy Nursery Manager who is passionate about Early Years Education, with qualifications at Level 5 or above. The role will encompass classroom-based teaching and/or practitioner work and undertaking managerial duties and responsibilities to support the Nursery Manager. The ideal candidate will champion high quality and creative early years practice and will possess excellent communication skills.

Type of position: Permanent, full time.

Salary: £27,000 per annum.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, all-year round, working hours to be negotiated, to include at least two evenings per week until 6pm.

Holidays: 40 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, to be taken during school holiday and shut down periods.

EYFS SEN Practitioner

West House School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced EYFS SEN Practitioner to join the school’s EYFS department. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (or equivalent) and also be qualified and experienced in SENCO. They will be passionate about Early Years care and education.

Salary: £12.19 per hour plus annual allowance of £1,500 per annum for significant SEN duties, a total of £20,699.25 per annum.

Hours:  Term-time only. 37.5 hours per week with at two late stays until 6pm with a 30-minute unpaid break each day.

Type of position: Permanent, term-time only with a requirement to work during Holiday Club for four weeks during the school holidays. Extra shifts during holiday periods will be available.

Holidays: Entitlement to 6 weeks of paid annual leave.

Governor Applications

West House School is seeking two Governors to join the Governing Body, ideally with special interest in the Early Years Foundation Stage and/or Education. This is a voluntary position with an expected term length of at least three years.

Job Description

Governors are required to attend three full board meetings a year in person, with additional support for one other relevant sub-committee (Premises and Finance, Health and Safety, Education, and Safeguarding) around once a term. Agendas and minutes are circulated to the Board.

The role of a Governor is to support the school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside the Headmaster and other senior members of staff to provide an excellent education to the children who attend West House School. More specifically, Governors help to make and challenge strategic and financial decisions.

 

There are currently six serving Governors with a range of skills and expertise in Finance, Law, Property, Risk and Education. Our current Governors include members who are parents of pupils who attended the school, attended the school themselves, or work at nearby institutions such as King Edward’s School. We welcome Governors with a range of backgrounds and professional experience.

 

Our Governors are also expected to uphold the ethos, aims and values of the school, to act as ambassadors of the school, and maintain a positive image of its objectives.

 

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Enthusiasm about education and the welfare of children and young people.
  • Strategic leadership skills, preferably with Board level governance experience.
  • An understanding of the need for clear vision, strategy, plans, motivation, governance and controls.
  • An understanding of the importance of promoting diversity, equality and inclusion
  • The desire to share skills and expertise.
  • The desire to contribute to the ongoing development of an ever-improving school with strong values and ethos.
  • The ability to demonstrate to a high level of engagement, equality, diversity and teamwork as well as to being effective in an ambassadorial role.
