Our football season got off to an excellent start this week, with West House boys showing plenty of skill, enthusiasm and teamwork across the Year groups.
On Tuesday, our Under 9 A and B teams welcomed Hallfield School to Richmond Hill Road. The A Team secured a 2–0 victory, while the B Team produced an impressive 9–0 win.
There was more success on Wednesday when the Under 11 B Team defeated Norfolk House A Team 3–0, making it a very positive opening week for West House football.
While the results were certainly worth celebrating, the boys are also being reminded that sport is about much more than the final score. Learning to compete with determination while responding positively to both victory and defeat is an important part of becoming a good sportsperson.
There is nothing wrong with being disappointed when a match doesn’t go your way – it is how you respond to that disappointment that really matters.
Well done to all the boys involved. We look forward to plenty more football as the season gets underway!
