Library Legends Inspire a Love of Reading at West House
Last term, West House School launched a brand-new initiative to spark a love of reading and celebrate those boys who go the extra mile with their library books — the Library Legends programme.
To earn the coveted title of Library Legend, boys were challenged to read five books from the school library and then discuss them with either the librarian, Mrs. Parker, or Ms. Jones-Owen. Each pupil had to show a clear understanding and enthusiasm for what they had read — and the response was fantastic.
Those who completed the challenge were rewarded with a truly special experience: a break from their usual lessons to enjoy a Library Legends Treat. The library was transformed into a magical storytelling space where the talented professional storyteller, Jenna Catton, brought tales to life in captivating detail. Her stories held the boys spellbound, and the photos from the day show just how engaged and inspired they were.
Adding to the occasion, the boys enjoyed a picnic in the library, making the experience not only enriching but also memorable and fun.
The Library Legends initiative has been a huge success and will return next year, offering even more boys the opportunity to immerse themselves in the joy of reading and reap the rewards of literary adventure.
