The annual Inter-House Music Competition is a highlight of the musical calendar here at school and we had a history-making year with a remarkable result in the Senior side of the competition.
In what was a close, competitive contest between the Year 5 and 6 Persians, Spartans and Trojans, there was tension right until the final few performances with the scores incredibly tight. Was there going to be an outright winner? Will one house win by the narrowest of margins? Director of Music at King Edward’s School, Dr Martin Leigh, announced that, for the first time in the competition’s history, we had a three-way tie for the final unofficial standings. To determine the winner, Dr Leigh graded each house on their professionalism whilst performing throughout the whole afternoon.
Well done to the Spartans who secured top spot this year closely followed by the Trojans and Persians in second and third place respectively.
In the junior competition, we were very grateful to have Ms Rebecca German, from KES/KEHS, to adjudicate the competition with all of Year 3 and 4 representing their house in another wonderful afternoon full of musical excitement and incredible tension. Every point matters when it comes to the final competition and once again, we were in for a unbelievably close result…
Well done to the Trojans who finished on 147 points and therefore crowned the winners of the junior competition this year! The Persians came narrowly second finishing on 146 points and the Spartans only one point behind finishing in third place on 145 points.
