Shrewsbury U11 Football Tournament

This took place on Thursday 12th September. The format of the competition was in 2 leagues and matches were 6 minutes each way. .
The top two teams in each would progress to the semi finals.

The first match in the league was against Packwood School.West House started well with quick passing and movement off the ball between Max to Eshan with a quick switch of play to Tamu who scored a well taken goal.

West House continued to press Packwood in midfield with Thomas winning the tackles to put the ball wide to Eshan who put Tamu through on goal who finished, putting the ball in the corner of the goal net. West House continued to dominate the opposition but could not quite finish off any more chances.

The second match was against Terra Nova.This is always a difficult fixture and we have played them in semi finals before!
West House started well with the midfield Thomas, Eshan, Jayden tackling well winning the ball and turning the opposition. Thomas had a very strong run, gliding past the defence and finished with a very fierce shot to beat the goalkeeper.

West House tackled well in defence  to stop the opposition then transferred the ball quickly to Eshan on the wing who finished with a very good technique to beat the goalkeeper. Rui in goal made a fine save to stop Terra Nova scoring. West House continued to create chances and Thomas went on to finish, to make the score 3-0 . Subs were made and Terra Nova scored in the last minute .

The third match was against Yarlet.

West House started well with the midfield Thomas, Eshan and Jayden with help from Max dominated the midfield and scored quickly with Thomas finishing well.
From the centre, West House pressed the opposition winning the individual battles. Charlie tackled well in defence passing the ball quickly  to Eshan who beat the defence to score again. This was the theme of the first half with Thomas going on to score two more fierce shots and two more goals . Eshan also scored a well taken goal.
Second half subs were made to rotate the squad. West House still dominated the midfield passing the ball to Tamu who finished well. Quick passing again turned the opposition and Samuel scored with a very strong finish. Quick passing to the wing saw Saran beat two defenders to score a well taken goal.
Final score 8-0 West House winners.

West House then had a match off and a much deserved lunch break.

The last league was after the break was against the Prestfelde B team.

West House did not start as well as they hoped and had a fierce battle with Prestfelde in midfield, which proved to be a 0-0 stalemate at half time.

In the second half West House played much better and began to dominate the midfield with slick passing to Tamu who produced a brilliant shot into the top of the net to take the lead.

Thomas helped dominate the midfield who won the ball and passed to Eshan who beat the defender and crossed the ball to Tamu who finished again.
The final score was 2-0  to West House.

This meant West House had played 4, won 4 and were top of the league!

Semi final v Old Hall

West House started well with quick passing to Tamu who just missed the top corner of the net with a firecracker shot just going wide. West House won a free kick. Thomas beat the first line of defence with his shot but hit a defender on the goal line .West House attacked agin but could not convert the chance.Old Hall took a well taken goal against the run of play to go 1-0 up. West House pressed again in the second half but could not find the net.
Old hall scored again to win the semi final.

Third and fourth play off, West House v Terra Nova

West House rotated the squad. Terra Nova started better and scored a well taken goal .West House came back well through quick passing to Saran on the wing who scored a well taken goal. Terra Nova scored again just before half time.
In the second half West House played much better and dominated the play. The opposition hit the crossbar hit the post hit the post again and somehow the ball just would not go into the net.
Final score 1-2 Terra Nova.

West House finished fourth but should be extremely proud of the commitment and skill that they showed on and off the pitch.
