Old Swinford Open Morning

We like to try and spread the word about events at some of the schools that many of our pupils go on to for secondary school.

This weekend is Old Swinford Hospital’s on Open Morning – Saturday 16 September, 9:30am-12pm

Old Swinford Hospital School is a happy, vibrant and distinctive state boarding school where traditions, community and values sit comfortably alongside innovation.

Existing for more than 350 years, Old Swinford Hospital’s (or OSH for short) school values are deeply rooted in the beliefs of founder, industrialist Thomas Foley. He opened the school in 1667 to develop the skills and attributes required for young people to make a difference in the wider world.

Rated ‘Outstanding for boarding’ by Ofsted and bringing together boarders and day pupils within its community, OSH prides itself on offering a different kind of educational experience where learning doesn’t end at the afternoon school bell. Staff understand and respond to the individual and collective personalities of pupils, and help each one to find and develop his or her own voice. Diversity of life is embraced, and learning to live – not simply work – alongside one another is a skill that cannot be underestimated.

OSH has an exceptional sports programme and are double national rugby schools champions having won the U18 and U15 National Vase competitions at Twickenham in March, and winning regional leagues in several boys, girls and mixed sports.  A beautiful music, drama and performing arts programme sees regular concerts and performances, plus the return of overseas tours and exciting new facilities.
