West House Boys Triumph at the Wrekin Maths Challenge
There was plenty to celebrate for our mathematicians this week as West House enjoyed outstanding success at the annual Wrekin Maths Challenge.
Competing against 30 teams from schools across the region, our boys produced an exceptional performance, with the West House B Team finishing in a superb second place and the A Team going one better to take the overall title.
It is a remarkable achievement and the third time in the last five years that West House has won the competition.
The challenge provides pupils with the opportunity to apply their mathematical knowledge and understanding in an environment that is rather different from the classroom. Working together, thinking creatively and tackling problems under pressure, the boys clearly relished the experience.
In fact, such is the depth of mathematical talent at West House that Mrs Patel could easily have fielded another team of able mathematicians had the competition rules allowed it!
We are incredibly proud of all the boys who took part. Competitions such as the Wrekin Maths Challenge are a wonderful way to enrich the curriculum while encouraging the boys to enjoy the healthy challenge of pitting their wits against other schools.
A huge well done to our brilliant mathematicians!
