Celebrating International Mother Language Day at West House

At West House, we take great pride in celebrating cultural diversity and multilingualism. This year, we marked International Mother Language Day with a special assembly alongside our partner school, EHS, and an exciting art competition to encourage pupils to explore and illustrate a word from their mother tongue—including English!

International Mother Language Day is celebrated globally on February 21st each year. Established by UNESCO in 1999, its purpose is to raise awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity while promoting multilingualism.

International Mother Language Day serves as a reminder of the importance of linguistic diversity and inclusion. By encouraging children to take pride in their mother tongue and learn about others, we help foster a more interconnected and culturally rich world.

We are incredibly proud of how our pupils embraced this celebration, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to language and cultural appreciation at West House.
