We Are Family: Staff Profiles

At West House School and Nursery, our community is built on strong connections, shared values, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. In our We Are Family series, we’re proud to introduce the incredible staff who make our school such a special place. From their passion for education to the personal touches they bring to our community, each profile highlights the people at the heart of West House. Welcome to our family!

Mr Boulton has been persuaded to join our collection of staff profiles in advance of our reading week.  We put these probing questions to him. As we would expect his true love of literature shines through.

What form do you teach and do you have a teaching speciality?

I am a Year 3 form tutor. I qualified as a teacher from Warwick with an ‘English Specialism.’ I love teaching all subjects but there’s nothing quite like sharing a book with a class for the first time!

What is your favourite thing about teaching at West House?

Stepping beyond the usual parameters and having the freedom to stretch, explore and challenge learners in lots of different ways!

Where were you before West House?

I was at a fantastic small school in Kings Heath that I loved. The only school I’d have left it for was West House…

Do you have any hidden talents?

An unwavering resilience in the face of insurmountable challenges. If you watched me play golf, you’d be amazed that I hadn’t switched to a new sport…

What is your favourite book?

As an adult, I love non-fiction books – I recently read a modern history book by Laurence Rees that astounded me. As a child, I loved Roald Dahl – I still remember reading James and the Giant Peach in my Year 4 class! I also loved Goosebumps by R.L. Stine. I remember running downstairs from my bedroom to tell my Mum about the latest plot development … she was always kind enough to exaggerate her interest and intrigue!
