Captain, My Captain
We held the hustings for our House Captains this week. Any boy in Year 6 is eligible to put himself forward and make a speech to their fellow house mates, persuading them to vote for them.
The boys have obviously been listening to Ms Green in her drama lessons as they demonstrated outstanding public speaking skills. Employing techniques such as body language, engaging directly with the audience, humour and emotional rabble rousing.
Many boys didn’t use notes which was extremely impressive and some used the power of poetry to win over their school friends.
The democratic voting process all went smoothly and the winners were declared.
Trojans
Sam was voted as House Captain of the Trojans after presenting an amazing rhyming speech that was peppered with the winning phrase, “Trojans on top and never last! ”
Kunal was a deserving Vice Captain after promising that the Trojans would have a fun year under his leadership.
Persians
Maxwell was voted in as House Captain after giving an empassioned rhyming speech promising that ‘Spartans and Trojans will be nowhere to be seen as together we’ll beat them as the formidable team.’
Winning words indeed!
Yuvraaj got our vote for future politician, delivering a speech so polished and professional that it is only a matter of time before Number 10 calls. In the meantime, he has the honour of being voted Vice Captain.
Spartans
Rui was swiftly given the position of House Captain after speaking from the heart about his commitment and passion for the Spartans. All the more impressive as he spoke without notes.
Thomas was appointed Vice Captain of the Spartans. He emphasised his enthusiasm for all sports related events but promised that even if sports were not of interest then he would help fellow house members thrive in whatever their preferred arena. Wise words indeed.
