Writing Competition 2024
Mr Boulton would like to draw your attention to the annual West House Writing Competition which opens on Monday 20th May. To celebrate a fantastic summer of sport, we are asking pupils to produce a piece of writing based on EURO 2024 or the Olympic Games in Paris.
While the theme is that of sport, the boys may choose to write about a related but broader topic. For example, they could write about the host countries, the culture, transport, dress, history of the Games, a favourite sporting personality. This year, the winners will be those who can come up with a piece that is inventive in its content and presentation, and we’d love to see different genres of writing such as poems / fact files / biographies / short stories / playscripts / song (raps) / reviews or any other form of writing they’d like to explore.
The word limits are: Reception – a 50 word ‘dash’, Years 1 and 2 – a 200 word ‘sprint’ and Years 3 – 6 – a 300 word ‘run’.
The deadline is Wednesday 12th June and all entries must be paper based and given directly to Mr Boulton or form tutors.
