Reading and Writing Awards Summer Term

This term’s Writing Awards were awarded to the following boys. Mali in Reception, who has made exceptional progress with his writing. His imaginative elements to his creative writing have flourished in strength. Mali now independently includes capital letters, full stops and conjunctions to extend his sentences. His stories and ideas are always a pleasure to read.

In Year 1, Rafferty. It has been fantastic to witness Rafferty’s writing journey this year. Initially a little reluctant, he now has the confidence and skills to write from his own ideas and most importantly, takes enjoyment from his work. We are really proud of him.

Year 2, Vikram. He has been working really hard on his independent writing. He has used his phonics to make great improvements to his spelling and has shown tremendous improvements in his handwriting.

Year 3, Moiz and James. These boys have improved their handwriting immeasurably from the beginning of the school year. Both are proud recent pen licence recipients but deserve more recognition! Well done to both of you for you continued hard work.

Year 4, Ayad. Ayad shines in English lessons and he has had such a productive term writing stories and completing homework tasks. Not only has he improved the overall presentation of his work to achieve a pen licence but it is evident that his word choice and use of punctuation is developing with increasing  accuracy. Well done!

Year 5, Tristan. This lad is developing a real flair with his writing. Not only is his work always beautifully presented but he always tries to use a varied vocabulary and is becoming adept at using literary devices.

Finally, Year 6, Kyan. Kyan consistently produces writing of an extremely high standard.

Adam in Reception was the recipient of a Reading Award. Adam’s recent love of reading is reflected in the sensational progress he has made this year. Not only is this evident in his sound knowledge and his attitude towards reading.

In Year 1 Owen’s dedication and enthusiasm for reading is truly inspiring. His comprehension skills are evident. displaying a strong grasp of story elements such as plot, character and setting. He is able to make predictions and draw connections between different parts of a story.

Year 2, Shawiaz. Shawaiz reads with enthusiasm and great expression in his voice. He can read extended texts with east and is very insightful with his observations.

Leo on Year 3 has recently shown an improved love of reading. He is enjoying our class of reader ‘Odd and the Frost Giants’ and his home readers where he has much-improved expressions and asks lots of questions about what he is reading.

Year 4, Eddie. Eddie is an avid reader. He is always so keen to get his book out and read the next instalment of his latest book. The variety of genres he has covered this term is immense and he must be commended for completing his latest book on world economy and spending money.

In Year 5, Aman had impressed teachers with his progress. He uses a rich variation on vocabulary and can call upon a range of excellent descriptive devices.

Rayan in Year 6 really enjoys reading our class text and has spotted key details, patterns and themes. He is developing his skill at answering comprehension questions and being able to give evidence for his ideas.
