Science Week

British Science Week 2024 was a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the United Kingdom. It took place from 8th to 17th March 2024.   During this exciting event, people of all ages engaged in various activities, exploring resources, and celebrating the wonders of science.

As in previous years, the pupils of West House whole heartedly embraced Science Week and pupils in Pre-Prep were encouraged to create and film their own experiments. These experiments were then shared in a special science assembly with the rest of the school and Mr Regall awarded certificates to three of the participants.

Boys from Years 5 and 6 put on a spectacular science fair, showcasing and demonstrating their experiments.

Pupils and teachers from across the school then took turns to visit the fair and had a chance to try out a range of experiments under the supervision of the older boys. They then had to vote on the experiment that had most appealed to them.

It was a really impressive range of experiments that demonstrated the boys’ full understanding of the topics that had chosen.

I was so proud of all the pupils this week. The experiments that they did at home and also the ones that were on display at the science fair were all great. The boys had really thought about the science behind them and hopefully had fun too. I think we've got a lot of future scientists here at West House!
