Year 5 enjoy an orchestral spectacular

Year 5 visited the magnificent Symphony Hall today for schools’ concert by our internationally renowned local orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.  In the concert hall packed with nearly 2000 children, they enjoyed a brilliantly presented hour of orchestral music, as well as hearing how each section of the orchestra contributes to the whole, with dynamics from ppp to fff. (That’s very soft to full blast, by the way.)  A range of styles of music, including a Roman army marching back into Rome (as told in music), Harry Potter film music, the famous Bolero by Ravel and dancing to the familiar Soul Bossa Nova.  A whole lot of fun.  Thanks to the staff who took the boys (we enjoyed it, too).
