Three is a Magic Number
Mr Philp’s group in Year 6 have spent this week investigating the Sierpinski Triangle and Pascal’s Triangle. Not only has this provided some excellent maths challenge (creating the 16th row of Pascal’s triangle using addition requires a high level of accuracy in column addition!), but it has created some lovely images too, as you can see in this video…
It has been great for the boys to spend some time as mathematicians investigating patterns and sequences at a deeper level. Did you know, for example, that the Fibonacci sequence (famous for how it is replicated all the way through the natural world) is hiding inside Pascal’s Triangle?
If you want to know more, ask one of our Year 6 boys!
