Science Fair 2023
West House Science Fair took place today with a range of exciting and thoughtful experiments in the fields of:
- Chemistry,
- Physics, and
- Biology.
Boys from across the school shared interested questions and how they had investigated each one.
The boys in the Pre-Prep department demonstrated their experiments via video: the rest of the school watching during assembly and then voted in their own time for their favourite investigation. Meanwhile the finalists in the Prep department converged on the Duce Hall for lessons 3 and 4, where they awaited the rest of the school to peruse their work. There was much chat, exposition and demonstration… Experiments on show included dry ice, home-made lava lamps, fire and hydraulics…. An exciting display of science!
There was a huge array of different work on show. The thirteen finalists in the Pre-Prep department and the sixteen finalists in the Prep department were just the tip of the iceberg, with over hundred entrants from across the school. What an effort from so many boys! Well done everyone!
The voting is currently being checked and independently verified with the final winners to be announced during Thursday’s assembly; although, it should be said that after such fantastic work from so many boys, the real winner is science.
