Spring Term Reading and Writing Awards
We love to celebrate the progress the boys make in Reading and Writing and each term we hand out certificates to boys from Reception to Year 6 who have showed advancement in each.
Mr Boulton led this term’s assembly.
Reading
James in Reception has made excellent progress this year. He is always keen to do his reading and enjoys talking about what he has read. He has become much more fluent and his comprehension skills have improved significantly.
Aydi from Year 1 has made exceptional progress with his reading so far in Year 1. He can read more fluently and his comprehension is improving as well. Great work!
In Year 2, Ibraheem has combined hard work with support from his parents. His application at learning monster phonics has seen Ibraheem increase his reading.
Leonardo from Year 3 is really starting to enjoy his reading and with that his comprehension and fluency are improving immeasurably. Well done!
Samuel, Year 4, has really developed in confidence when reading and to his credit is an avid reader.
From Year 5, Jeevan is an avid reader who can articulate his understanding with clarity and depth.
In Year 6, Ihsaan has a fantastic general knowledge due to the breadth and depth of his reading. He retains information well and is developing empathy as he reads.
Writing
Quaim from Reception has made excellent progress with his letter formation and using the phonic monsters to segment his words when writing sentences independently.
Teachers in Year 1 are proud of how Alfie has developed his ability to write independently. He will always have a go and has some wonderful ideas.
Yusuf from Year 2 has increased his writing ability in three distinct areas. His writing stamina, his ability to write in coherent sentences and the application of his phonic knowledge to his spellings.
From Year 3, Caleb has wholeheartedly embraced the challenge to write a poem inspired by Michael Rosen and has produced some truly wonderful work! Well done.
Mustafa in Year 4 has made significant progress with handwriting and presentation since starting WHS in September and has just obtained his pen licence.
In Year 5, Fausto writes with flair and panache, listening carefully to advice. He is developing an engaging and mature style.
Lastly, Abdul in Year 6 writes for a range of purposes with increasing detail and he is beginning to develop a more confident writing style.
