Pre-Prep Christmas Play (with added Bingo!)

The Pre-Prep Christmas Play was a great success this year. All the boys in Reception, Year 1 and 2 learned their lines, their songs and their dances really well and performed them brilliantly to their parents on Monday afternoon.

The play itself featured some great Christmas characters. It was narrated by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future and Marley, with a significant doffing of the cap to Dickens. The Traditional Christmas Octopus appeared alongside Alice the Horse who thinks she is a Camel. Both of these characters join the lead role of Bernard, a West House boy is is simply searching for the meaning of Christmas.

The Narrators in action

Lost in the basement, Bernard is transported forward and backwards in time by the mysterious Headmaster Field and meets various characters including Space Unicorns, Iron Man, Father Christmas and his Elves, Roman Soldiers, Shepherds, Wise Men and eventually Mary, Joseph with the Baby Jesus in their Stable. Each group tries to answer Bernard’s question about the meaning of Christmas and eventually Bernard has a whole range of different answers. If you want more details, do investigate the programme embedded below (which contains a full synopsis).

Father Christmas and some of his Elves

One of the new features in this year’s play was a game of Christmas Play Bingo, in which parents watching the play could look out for key events and characters, tick them off and then shout ‘Bingo’ when they had all 16 items. Unfortunately nobody seemed to find all 16, so the teachers kept the prize for themselves…. maybe next year?
