Music Recital for Years 4-6

Completing an amazing week of live music at West House, we had 14 fantastic musicians (aged 15 – 18) from KEHS and KES performing to Years 4 – 6, fresh from their lunchtime recital at the Elgar Concert Hall (University of Birmingham) and performing the same programme for us.

KES Director of Music, Dr Leigh, gave introductions to each of the three pieces so our boys could then listen out successfully for features of the music.  Works by Bridge, Barber and Poulenc – piano quintet, string quartet with solo singer and wind sextet – the contrasting sounds of the instruments (all of which can be started at West House) gave boys a powerful and deep listening experience.  That they listened so well for an extended period showed that they appreciated the quality of the music and performances.
