Year 2 Visit to the ThinkTank
Year 2 had a marvellous day at the ThinkTank on Thursday. Birmingham’s Premier Science Museum hosted our enthusiastic Year 2 boys who were delighted to explore the exhibits, pushing buttons to see how things worked and discovering more about many areas of science they have been studying in class.
A particular highlight for many was the Planetarium in which boys enjoyed a 2D tour of the solar system, zooming into all the planets and finding about the harsh conditions on each one. Following this space theme, the boys took part in an interactive ‘Destination Space’ lecture in the Theatre in which the boys learnt about life on the International Space Station and the various roles needed to keep the astronauts up their, including flight controller, flight surgeon and engineer. They looked at the various properties of materials needed to build a functional space suit and even chose their very own Year 2 astronaut to wear one and roleplay a spacewalk to fix a solar panel on the ISS.
It was a brilliant day: full of learning and fun.
