West House School Remembrance Service 2022
Boys from years Reception to Year 6 took part in our annual Remembrance service today.
Mr Lyttle led the service in Duce Hall, with contributions from pupils across the school. The whole school then gathered around the memorial in the school grounds and with the flag flying at half mast, remembered the 89 old boys who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2.
Lest We Forget
Our orchestra played Cwm Rhondda, a traditional Welsh hymn tune, followed by the boys from Years 5 and 6 who sang Go Down, Moses.
Mr Lyttle discussed with the boys what remembrance means, with boys as young as year 2 joining in the discussion.
In Flanders Fields
Hugh and Jovan gave a moving recital of In Flanders Fields, and the whole school sang I Vow to Thee My Country.
Mr Lyttle explained to the boys how many old boys had lost their lives in the two world wars.
We Will Remember Them
The West House Chorale sang We Will Remember Them, followed by a whole school prayer. The service in Duce Hall finished with the National Anthem.
The boys then walked out to the war memorial for the roll call of the fallen old boys, the Last Post and the two minutes silence.
