A noteworthy trip out
What a pleasure it was to be invited to take 15 boys to the superb Ruddock Concert Hall for the first lunchtime recital of the season given by KES/KEHS senior musicians. We were treated to lovely performances on violin, clarinet and cello in a programme full of contrasting styles. This is an opportunity for our musicians to see how they might develop their technique and musicianship by the time they get to the sixth form. We also enjoyed meeting several ex-West House pupils who were around – some in the audience. To quote Hugh, ‘I enjoyed the atmosphere and variety of the music. I also liked the surprises within the clarinet, cello and violin pieces. The violin made me feel sleepy and alive at the same time.’ Congratulations to the performers.
