As some of you know, in addition to her role as Director of Performing Arts at West House, Ms Green works  on a range of projects leading drama  and health & wellbeing projects for vulnerable members of society. Most recently she was commissioned by The Arts Council England  to write, direct and perform in a play to promote positive  awareness of Parkinson’s Disease.

No easy feat!  Never afraid of new artistic challenges, Ms Green has produced a comedy show that explores this health condition  Following positive feedback  from notable audiences including Parkinson’s UK and  Parkinson’s Scotland the play went up at The Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

Ms Green says-  “ I was pleasantly surprised to see our Chair of Governors (Mr Gittins)  and a pupil from West House appearing in the audience at  my ‘Shake It Up’  show during my stint in Edinburgh in the school holidays,  talk about dedication! On a serious note, from the outcomes of our pupils at West House-  we all know how drama benefits individuals in confidence and self – belief. This is what makes the work very rewarding. It is reassuring to know that the creative process of this project has aided the adult  participants with self -esteem to  cope and deal with this non-curable condition. Alongside this, the feedback from show confirms how theatre  is a most powerful vehicle  to inspire and educate  people of all ages about the most complex of subjects. This is why we install the pupils at West House to have an open mindset- even the most impossible challenges can be achieved with dedication focus and determination! ”
