Year 6 Drama Double Bill
With her typical blend of zany creativity and dramatic determination, Head of Drama Ms Green led Year 6 to another triumph this Year. On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week the boys performed a double bill on both nights. Yes: 2 plays. 2 Nights. The audience were spellbound, the actors magnificent.
Adventures in the Mystical Bookstore
6P took us through a magical caper with a moral tale about the benefit of books. We met a young boy not interested in them at all, but then ensues an adventure in which a jewel thief hides valuable diamonds inside a book in a struggling bookstore, only for the characters of several famous books to come alive and thwart the gang of thieves and put their own enchanted existence at risk. It was a pleasure to meet Fagan, Heidi and Tom Sawyer amongst others as they leapt out of the pages of the classics they are from to entertain and enthrall us. At the end of the tale, the young boy who began it all lays down his device and buys the whole book shop.
Credit has to be given to Jorawar and his gang of thieves who did a great job at playing the bad guys, and Jorawar himself managed to play a convincing female mastermind as well as the leader of the gang: great versatility!
The Curious Case of the Royal Ring
In this tale told by 6G, the King and Queen employ a slew of sleuths to track down the oh-so-pompous Queen’s Royal Ring which has gone missing. Great performances by all the boys, with Head Boy Gibran playing a convincing Queen and Thomas T playing ‘Gipsy Rose’ a mystical detective whose attempts to augur the course of events by dissecting a tomato with a lead pipe were something that well go down in West House memory for a very long time!
