Bold, Brilliant and Bodacious Bosworth!

The annual trip to Bosworth is a highly anticipated part of the Year 4 Journey and, once again, it didn’t fail to deliver! The day started with a delightful drive through the rural heart of the English countryside with the sun shining down and the boys singing along to the buoyant radio. After bags were left safe and the inevitable queue to the lavatory, the first activity explored the fascinating life of a ‘Bosworth Soldier’. The boys were amazed by the variety of weaponry on show and the learning element of this historical battle had them truly engaged.

When the opportunity arose to go outside and re-enact the battle though, we think just about all of our boys jumped up with the biggest smiles on their faces! The chanting of ‘CHARGE’ echoed across the beautiful, rural countryside and the experience was hugely rewarding that even Mr Robinson, Mrs Flanagan and Mrs Todd joined in with the re-enactment!

The guided walk of the the battlefield followed by the self-led exhibition brought the story of the Battle of Bosworth to life, but no school trip would ever be the same without a visit to the gift shop at the end! From giant archery bows to historical coins and souvenirs, we hope Year 4 took away fantastic memories and vital information that will help their study of the Tudor period in future history lessons this term. Thank you, Bosworth!
