Pupils Join Forces in Support of St. Mary's Hospice

On Sunday 13th February pupils from Years 3 to 6 took part in an extravaganza of children’s voices in a production of Romany Wood. The event, held in support of St. Mary’s Hospice, took place in the fantastic surroundings of Birmingham Town Hall and provided the boys with a rare opportunity to perform on the ‘big stage’.
Romany Wood began life as a children’s picture book in 1972, before being set to music by David Carr and David Gaukroger in 2001. It is a magical tale of a rural landscape described through the eyes of the animals living there and has been performed over 70 times at venues across the UK.
On this occasion West House pupils joined children from local primary schools, with the Birmingham Chamber Orchestra providing the musical accompaniment. However, the show would not have been complete without the flawless narration by Nick Owen, BBC news presenter and Patron of St. Mary’s Hospice.
All who took part, or simply watched, can be proud to have been involved in a venture that raised over £5000 for the hospice.
