York 2009

The Year 5 and 6 trip to York
On Thursday 26th March, boys in Years 5 and 6 spent three days in York, stopping at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on the way. Organised by Madeline Hawkins, the trip included a busy timetable of activities, ranging from a visit in the Hotel by a Viking to a ghost walk in the dead of night through the streets of York. With over 500 ghost stories relating to the City, an uneasy night’s sleep followed.

Visits to the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum proved extremely popular, with a replica of Stephenson’s Rocket being a particular attraction. The Westland Lodge Hotel provided excellent accommodation and boys and staff returned happy but tired.

Year 6 pupil Paddy Keane commented, “Overall the trip was very enjoyable and we all learned a great deal.”
