Year 2 ICT Curriculum (Summer)
First Half Term
Topic: Questions & Answers, Spark Island – Unit 2E
On completion of the integrated activity all children should be able to:
- Understand that there are different ways of asking questions.
- Understand that questions can be a word, sentence, number or yes/no.
- Create a simple questionnaire making use of a range of questions
Some children should be further able to:
- Understand that a computer database programme can be used to store and find information.
- Enter information into a database programme. (with help).
- Search for answers (with help).
- Understand that the database can only provide answers if appropriate information is stored.
Others may be able to:
- Carry out all of the above unaided.
Termly Plan – Summer Term 1st Half

Discuss Big Book – information. P28/29 Children vote for favourite choc. Bar: Mars, Twix, Kitkat, Penguin, Dairy Milk, Bounty. (only up to 10 each) PCM 24 Create pictogram on board. Then on Spark Island programme. Small objects game – yes/no answers only. |
Read P30 in Big Book – play yes/no game. Make a manual binary tree with basic shapes, circle, square, rectangle and triangle. Use Binary Tree programme on Spark Island. Play small objects game requiring yes/no answers. |
Read Big Book P31. Fill in form on PCM 25 Children add their information to the Spark Island Data Base. Discuss questions to ask to compile a data base. (see P72, Teachers book for ideas) – This is to be used next week for integrated activity. |
Use prepared form from last week. Children carry out market research and ask and answer the questions. Create new data base on Spark Island and enter information then search. |
