Pre-prep (Years 1 and 2)
As boys move into Key Stage 1, the core subjects - English, Maths and Science - are the main focus, with a strong emphasis placed on reading skills. Many other areas of the curriculum such as Geography, History, Art and Design Technology are drawn together through a rich variety of exciting topics.
Each class has its own teacher who covers the majority of the curriculum. Games, Dance and Drama, Music and ICT are taught by specialists. Regular consultation evenings allow parents the opportunity to discuss their child's progress. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms are open for parents to visit between 8.30am and 9.10am each Friday morning. Members of the senior management team are also available until 10am for informal parental consultations.
The boys enjoy many occasions throughout the year when they join with younger pupils for events such as sports days, a Christmas production and a summer concert. Parental involvement is encouraged and all are welcome to attend the various events.
Classes undertake a number of visits and outings to complement the curriculum. These include Hartlebury Castle, Millenium Point, The Black Country Museum, Birmingham Airport and local theatres. Visiting performers allow pupils to broaden appreciation of the arts.
