Early Years

West House Nursery caters for boys and girls from the age of 12 months to 4 years. The excellent facilities of the school enable the nursery children to discover, learn, develop and achieve in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

Our well-trained and experienced staff maintain a structured environment that develops each child's individuality and talents. Staff to pupil ratios are exceptionally high enabling close personal contact between small groups of children and their key workers.

West House Nursery is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 48 weeks of the year. Nursery classes are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with before-school care and a '3 o'clock club' for after-school care. Our Holiday Club keeps children up to the age of 11 years old busy, safe and happy.

West House Nursery is divided into three groups according to age:

Nursery
Children are admitted from the age of 12 months until the end of the school year in which they become 2 years old. Staff ratios are very generous with one adult to every three children under two years and one adult to every four children aged two years.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten children are aged between two and three with one adult to every four children aged two and one adult to every six children aged three.

Pre-School
Pre-School is for children aged three to four and the ratio of staff is one adult to every eight children. In Pre-School children are prepared for entry into the main school and close links are established with Reception, with the Head of Pre-prep and Nursery ensuring a smooth transition.

Nursery, Kindergarten and Pre-School classes provide a nurturing and stimulating environment so that all children feel safe to develop academically and socially at a pace appropriate to each individual.

Our wide and varied curriculum covers language and literacy, mathematics, knowledge of the world, science, technology and P.E.

Even the youngest children create and explore through art, singing, role playing, stories and music.

All year groups within West House Nursery become heavily over subscribed during the academic year. Parents are advised to register at least three months before an intended start date.
