Extra - Curricular Activities

Pupils of all ages benefit from a rich array of extra – curricular activities designed to appeal to every interest. By the time pupils have reached Year 3 the vast majority are involved in additional musical or sporting activities.

Various bands rehearse during the school day and allow even the least experienced musicians the opportunity to contribute to a group. Brass, woodwind, guitar and string groups perform at concerts throughout the year and the most senior musicians join the school orchestra which rehearses on Friday afternoons.

Sport also plays a significant part in the life of the school. In Years 1 and 2 a football club, organised and run by a team of coaches from Aston Villa FC, introduces the basics of the game after school on Fridays. As boys enter the Prep Department (Years 3 – 6) sporting clubs are organised both during the school day and after school. These range from team sports, such as football, rugby, basketball and cricket, to keep-fit, badminton and table tennis. The school also enjoys a close relationship with Harborne Golf Club and opportunities exist during the year to benefit from professional golf coaching.

A number of additional activities are offered to suit all tastes. In Years 1 and 2 an after school art and design club takes place after school. For boys in the Prep Department clubs for art, board games, chess, dance, technology and typing give every boy the chance to explore a particular interest.
